How do you change the type of an existing field on an item in 1Password 8?

Hey @davidgeary, it is not currently possible to change field types in 1Password 8. With that said, we currently have an internal issue where I'll pass your comment along to our developers to show that there is interest in this feature.

I'm a bit surprised it's not already in the v8 roadmap, given that it's been a feature of 1Password for as long as I've been using it. I'd also consider it fairly fundamental if only because we're all human and make mistakes. Having to delete a field and recreate it, just to change the type, seems pretty poor.

Alternatively, perhaps when you're promoting new versions, you could provide a list of features you've removed, so we can make an informed decision before upgrading?

would really like to see this feature added. I don't even see how to change the type of a new field in a section, it seems I need to create a new section ... all my fields are type "website" which is wrong, as I want "copy" to be the default behaviour
