Question

How to password generator invoke one touch

Can’t I launch the password generator in 1Password with symbol and number checkboxes in one touch? Right now, I have to select ‘New Item’ and then ‘Login’ to access it, which is inconvenient.

Hello @tacobooh! 👋

Thanks for the question! If you're using 1Password in the browser on a Windows PC or Mac then you can open the password generator by clicking on the button in suggestions menu:

If you're using 1Password on another device then you can follow the steps here: Use the password generator to change and strengthen your passwords

I couldn't post the text because it threw up an error no matter how I tried, so I had no choice but to use an image.

I do not speak English, so I use automatic translation.

@tacobooh

Thanks for posting the text. You can generate a password using the 1Password for Mac desktop app by following these steps:

  1. Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
  2. Click + New Item and then click Password
  3. Click the password field and then click Create a New Password
  4. Use the password generator to choose your options and then save the password and item:

The password generator includes options for toggling numbers and symbols. Make sure that you're using the "Random Password" type.

I understand that you'd like to see a password generator option in the menu bar, that isn't an option in the current version of 1Password but I can certainly file a feature request on your behalf. Can you tell me a little more about why you'd like to generate a password from the menu bar? And are you generating passwords for a website? Or for something else?

I know how to do that. I believe I have mentioned it in a past post. I posted that it is inconvenient to do it that way, so I asked if it was possible to use one-touch. I used to be able to do it, and if it's such a great feature that 1password offers a password generator on their website, I think it's a good idea to let the one-touch charged users use it.
