How to search exact string?

I am about to change my email provider, and they have a different way of creating email aliases, so I need to search for all of my 1Password logins for a pattern matching `@firstname.lastname.com` , so I can go to all of these websites, and change my logins before these email addresses get destroyed.

However, the problem becomes that even if I put quotes around this, 1Password seems to disregard the `@..` characters, and turns it into a boolean search for "firstname AND lastname AND com". This turns out to be a significant problem, because my other main email is `firstname@lastname.com` so this search basically returns EVERY login in my account.

This behavior seems to be the same on both macOS and iOS.

Is there a way to force 1Password to perform a strict, exact search of the string provided, and not try to be "smart" about it?

Hello @mboszko! 👋

I'm sorry that you're running into trouble while searching for a specific term. The cause of the issue here is likely a known issue in 1Password's Search tool that our developers are investigating. A search term with a symbol in it (such as @) will erroneously be broken up into components and then 1Password will display results for each component rather than for the search term as a whole. Our developers are looking into this and I've added your report to our internal work item for the issue.

For the time being, you can use the Find tool rather than the Search tool to look for the items in question. The Find tool doesn't have the same bug with symbols that the Search tool currently has but it searches through fewer fields and through a specific vault/category only. You can access the Find tool by clicking on the following button above the list of the items that you'd like to search:

I hope that helps.

Thanks. It's an extra step, but it does seem to work for this purpose. Cheers.

I'm glad that the workaround helps for now.
