Question

How to stop Safari from auto-opening?

Hi There,

For many years across different MacOS and 1Password versions, unlocking 1Password in Chrome, often opens Safari which makes safari the focus - it's a constant frustration sorry.

1Password for Safari is a separate app on my system. Is this an old version causing conflicts or is 1Password split between apps like this?

Whatever the reason, does anyone know how to fix?

Cheers, Ben

Browser: Chrome & Safari

Hello @sciascia! 👋

I'm sorry that Safari is stealing focus on your Mac when unlocking 1Password in Chrome. You might be running into a known issue, so that I can confirm this can you tell me the following:

  1. Are you able to reproduce the issue on demand? Or is it random?
  2. Are you using Safari or any other apps in fullscreen mode?
  3. Are you using macOS Spaces: Work in multiple spaces on Mac - Apple Support (CA)
  4. If you temporarily turn off 1Password for Safari then does the issue stop happening? You can turn off 1Password for Safari by following these steps: Safari > Settings > Extensions > Uncheck "1Password for Safari".

I look forward to hearing from you.

@1P_Dave Thanks for the info and sorry for the late reply. Since upgrading to OS10.15 and updating 1Password, I haven't seen this issue. Cheers, Ben
