How to use Google Pay instead of 1Password payment card numbers to support virtual cards

I would like to use virtual cards generated by Google Pay to autofill online payments, but 1Password controls all autofill fields when it is enabled.

Is there any way to use 1Password to autofill all fields other than payment card info and use Google Pay for payments? Or is there a plan to integrate 1Password with Google Pay for payment information.

Virtual Card numbers dramatically increase security and reduce fraud.

Hello @percy1! 👋

Thanks for reaching out! I'm not personally aware of any plans to integrate Google Pay but I'll pass your post along internally so that the appropriate team is aware that this is something that you'd like to see in the future.

You might run into some conflicts, and I haven't tested this myself since I don't have Google Pay, but you could try the following:

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
  3. Turn off "Make 1Password the default password manager".
  4. Click "Autofill & save".
  5. Turn off "Show autofill suggestions when a form field is in focus".

Then go to the following page in Chrome and turn on "Save and fill payment methods": chrome://settings/payments

Finally, make sure that "Offer to save passwords and passkeys" is turned off here: chrome://password-manager/settings

As mentioned, I haven't tested this so you might run into conflicts and turning off "Show autofill suggestions when a form field is in focus" will mean that you have to click on the 1Password icon in a username or password field before you see login or credit card suggestions from 1Password. But I wanted to share these steps in case they help. If you do run into too many conflicts and issues then I suggest reversing the steps.
