I cannot successfully turn off MacOS autofill

Question

HELP HELP HELP. I am a techie person but this 60 year old techie person is not happy.

I had turned on MACOS autofill and I do NOT like it (it’s a change from what I used to do and I don’t like change)

I have tried things and I have tried what the chatbot suggested and for the life of me I CANNOT turn off macOS autofill and get it back to how it was autofilling before (I assume from the browser extension).

The chat bot also seems to be offering up conflicting or confusing information.

I really need someone to handhold me here. I do NOT like where I am at at this moment.

Thank you ahead of time for helping this normally techie person coming back from the brink of hating autofill life right now.

Go to System Settings (in the Apple menu), select the General tab, then click on Autofill & Passwords and turn off the Autofill from 1Password option. You might have to reboot your Mac for it to take effect (I did). That got me back to the old autofill behavior in Safari.

I suspect you’ll also want to turn off autofill from the Password app, mine was already off.

ok, so where I said “autofill” Perhaps I meant inline suggestions. Those were not working after I turned off macOS autofill.

I rebooted my macbook air. I also uninstalled the safari extension (not sure if I needed to), and then reinstalled it. Rebooted my machine again and now inline suggestions seem to be working again.

I am not sure if anything I did above made a difference or not or it was just timing or something.

Also, what I am not sure about at this point is if I turn on 1password autofill here:

Will that allow my info to be autofilled (in addition to inline suggestions) and/or will this turn on macOS autofill again. I DO NOT want that
