I'm confused about two factor authentication.....

I have a security question. I use a Mac computer and access 1Password through the Safari extension. I open 1Password on my keyboard with my finger. Then, let's say I open one of my important accounts by telling 1Password to open and enter the password. My question is.....does the fact that I just did a two step procedure by first opening 1Password and then opening the account mean that I used two factor authentication? Or do I have to establish two factor authentication within each account?

Hello @jazzman! 👋

Thanks for the question! Two-factor authentication refers to the need to provide two different factors (for example, a password and then a second one-time password) when signing into a specific website. The scenario that you describe would not fit the definition of two-factor authentication since you're just signing in to the website using a single factor: your password for the website.

If you'd like to learn more about two-factor authentication and enable it for your accounts then you can read more here:

Let me know if you have any questions.
