Invalid Passkey Notification for Fairfax County Public Library

I was going through my passkey notifications in Watchtower, and I have a notification for

https://fcplcat.fairfaxcounty.gov/logon.aspx  .  I logged in and went into my account security settings to enable a passkey, but there is no mention of one. I can only change my password.

Is there a way to correct the notification ? AFAIK, passkeys are not supported.

Hi @komrad,

It looks like passkey registration may be done through the forgot/change password flow on this website. Could you check if you see the option to register a passkey when you go to the section to change your password?

Nothing. No mention of passkey. Their account settings section doesn't have a security section. This is under the "My Record" section.

The confusion most likely comes from the way Fairfax County libraries and government are hosted, i.e. both in `fairfaxcounty.gov`. The MyFairfax "portal" login supports passkeys, however the libraries have their own login and do not provide any second factor or passkey option.

I have accounts on both and for me the passkey authentication is broken in too many ways to mention.

Hi @komrad,

My apologies! I got mixed up between the two websites. I'm unable to test the library site, but from what @AJCxZ0 noted (thank you!), it sounds like passkeys are only available on the default portal, and not the library one.

The passkey suggestion is based on the base domain, so I would recommend clicking the ignore option in the banner to remove it. Note that you may need to click on the banner before you see the ignore option.
