iOS 16.1.1, 1P 8.9.7 search results won't open item

Question

search for an item, get a hit, click on the item > and it does sporadically nothing. Closing and reopening the app makes no difference. Only restarting the phone does. I've noticed this for a couple/few weeks. Why?
