Question

iOS app is not saving passkeys

After signing in to a few apps recently, I’ve been prompted to add a passkey. It brings up the screen that lets me choose where to save the passkey, with options for creating a new item or updating the existing item. Regardless of which one I choose, clicking the Save button on the top right does nothing.

I’m on iOS 27.2. Any ideas? Is this a known issue?

Hello @etlikesreeses! 👋

I’m sorry that you’re unable to save a passkey using 1Password for iOS. Are you able to save a passkey in 1Password on another device, like a Mac or Windows PC?

And does the issue only affect the saving of new passkeys? Or new passwords as well?

I am able to save on a Mac, and that was my workaround for saving it.

I did just do some tests with passwords to answer your other question, including creating a new passkey, and it’s working now. I’m not sure what changed, but I can’t repro the issue anymore.

I’m glad that everything is working again! Let us know if the issue comes back.

Has anybody else reported this problem, or is there an open ticket for this behavior? I’m having the exact same issue. I’m only on iOS 27.0. Maybe 27.2 is not yet available in German?

Hi @many,

Are you able to save passkeys on your other devices, or is the issue specific to your iOS device? If it’s specific to your iOS device, is the issue occurring on all apps/websites that you try and save passkeys for, or specific ones?

I have no problems on my Mac. I’d have to check on my iPad. The only device I’ve noticed the problem on is my iPhone after updating to iOS 27.0.

I know it’s happened on several websites with my iPhone. I can’t remember if it’s happened with any apps. I can say, though, that it has failed every time I tried to save a new 1P item on the iPhone after updating, no matter what context it was in.

The workaround I’ve found is first to save the password/passkey to iOS Passwords and then copy it from there to 1P.

Thanks for your response,

Matthew
