Due diligence

The https://1password.community/discussion/11868/referencing-a-password-from-a-different-entry?utm_source=community-search&utm_medium=organic-search&utm_term=Referencing+a+Password+from+a+Different+Entry I could find on this was closed in 2013. I've looked through the Link to another Entry KB and other articles.

Goal

Use JumpCloud (or any SSO site) credentials on multiple websites, by having an entry pull credentials (username and password) from the JumpCloud entry.

What hasn't worked

  1. Add multiple URLs to the JumpCloud entry (credentials aren't shown when 1password button is clicked)
  2. Linked item to the JumpCloud one. The password isn't pulled.

Questions

  1. Is this possible and I've just been doing it wrong?
  2. Has there been any development on this or is it in a roadmap for any device?
  3. Is there a workaround, someone has found?

1Password Version: 1Password for Mac 8.10.27 (81027003)
Extension Version: 2.21.0
OS Version: 14.4 (23E214) Sonoma
Browser: Chrome 122.0.6261.129

Jumpcloud is not a current sign-in with option. I'd be happy to ping the products team and let them know this interests you. We generally don't comment on roadmaps as things can be very dynamic. I am not aware of any workarounds. You might be able to use copy/paste or drag and drop as needed. The options are shown below.

And what if it is not a "provider" per se, but just a password entry? Something like a personal AD, so that you use the same identity (user & password) to log into different apps, with no IdP redirection that 1P can catch and fulfil for you

@dmbuil

Thank you for the question. Can you clarify the use case a little more? Are you saying that you're using the same username and password to sign into different websites and apps? Is this through Active Directory?

I look forward to hearing from you. 🙂

Hi @1P_Dave !
In my case, I have some items that share the same password but that are technically different.
In fact, I have two use cases:
1. Passwords being synced between Azure Entra and O365: despite being different login items (username and 2FA), the password is synced, so I always have to remember to change it on every "related" item whenever I renew the password.
2. Different WebApps that use the same Active Directory identity to log in: on my Home Lab I use the same AD Account for several webapps.

It is not a big deal on any of those cases, but some feature to create a "linked password" (or even a "linked field") would be great.

I have a similar problem:

  • My university uses O365... this is saved as an entry with Email/Password and used for all O365 sites
  • Multiple external sites use this authorized O365, but with a university username, not the O365 email.

e.g.:
* O365 -> mailto:my.name@university.edu / MyCoolPassword
* university.canvas.edu -> myUser / MyCoolPassword

How do I reconcile this?

@1P_Tommy I'd appreciate if you could let them know I'd like this as a feature.
