macOS File Selector: Choose from attachment

I keep images of ID cards as “file attachments” on my records in 1Password, in addition to transcribing the specific data into fields.

In many cases, I need to upload these files to healthcare providers or during some verification process; instead of opening 1Password and “downloading” the image (isn’t it already downloaded?), then locating and selecting it with the native file browser, it would be great to be able to select a record from a custom 1Password source (like the default Photos source), and send one or more of the attachments.

Maybe this is too risk-prone (i.e. in web applications that automatically upload selected files, rather than waiting for user confirmation)…?

Hello @awm! 👋

Files, such as photos, are stored encrypted on your device until you choose to preview them. Then they’re decrypted and made available for viewing or download. That being said, I’ve filed a feature request with our team to make it easier to select photos and other files stored in 1Password and they’ll look into this further for future versions of 1Password.

Thank you for the feature request!
