Question

Make 1Password Safari Extension match the hostname, not the domain

I have a big number of logins for my homelab, shared family services, and they all have different hostnames under the same domain (like a.homelab.ts.net, b.homelab.ts.net, etc).

When I go to b.homelab.ts.net, the Safari extension show me all of the accounts, even the ones like a.homelab.ts.net…

The match should be precise, if I’m at host “a” it should not show me entries for host “b”, that makes no sense…

Is there any way to fix this?

Thank you in advance.

1Password for Mac 8.12.36 (81236040)
1Password for Safari 8.12.0.13

Hello @melo! 👋

Thanks for the question! You can set a login to “Only fill on this exact host” with autofill behaviours: Change where a login is suggested and filled

Note that autofill behaviours aren’t supported by native macOS AutoFill so you’ll need to turn that off and use 1Password for Safari for autofill instead: If you want to turn off Autofill

Hi Dave,

thanks for the reply. Is there a way to set that option to be the default? I don’t want to go over the hundreds of entries I have and set that one-by-one…

Can I do it with the developer APIs? I can write a script to do it… I’ll check that.

Best regards,

@melo

It isn’t possible to change the default autofill behaviour currently but I’ve filed a feature request so that our team can consider adding such as option in the future!
