Master password - 7 vs 8

I used what became 1Password 7 for a long time, and had a master password that was memorable to me.

With 1Password 8, I now need to set an account password, and I got the impression I should choose a difficult one to remember - but difficult enough to merit storing in another password manager.

Is there best practice on what to do here? Should my 1Password account be memorable to me or is it safer storing it in the Apple Passwords app?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @jhuk14, thanks for your question!

We actually have a guide covering our suggestions on choosing a good account password. The short version is we suggest something that's unique, random, and memorable. One thing that may be helpful to consider, is that along side your account password is your Secret Key, which produces an encryption key far stronger than your account password alone. If you're interested in learning more about the Secret Key, we have a great write up about it in our blog.
