Hello

How can I save Passkey for my personal and business Microsoft accounts? For my personal account I went to https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional then Add then selected Windows device. It asked for my Windows Hello PIN code and that was it. I didn't get any prompt from 1Password. I tried both in Firefox and Edge.

Addon versions
FF: 1Password im Browser 2.12.1 21200101, im Kanal BETA
Edge: 1Password im Browser 2.12.0 21200003, im Kanal BETA

Same here, no option to use a security key.

I followed these instructions, using Brave browser on my Mac running Sonoma, and they worked:

On that page, click "(+) Add a new way to sign in or verify", then "Use a security key".

Follow along as if you were adding a USB security key, and 1Password will offer to save a passkey for you.

Now, when I go to my main 1P.app > Skype, it says [You can now use a Passkey] and there is a "button" for [Use Passkey]. When I click on [Use Passkey], it takes me to Brave browser and offers to log me in exactly the same way it did before I created a Passkey.

Something seems amiss here. When I go to Skype, should I not see a [Passkey} button to click on?

I was having the same issue of only getting the 3 options while using Safari. I logged in using Firefox and that gave me the 4th option to use a USB key. 1Password saved it as a passkey.

Because Safari is not supported at the moment.

I know this is an old discussion, but I did find it in a search, and just in case someone else comes across it...

The error you were receiving, I assume was for your "business" account you mentioned.  Up until November 2025, Microsoft was blocking "syncable" passkey setup for the M365 (aka "business") accounts.  You could only set them up prior to 11/2025 for "personal" accounts.

Previously, when trying to setup M365 passkey in 1Password it would give you the "Were sorry, we ran into a problem" generic error message that you included.  Even if the passkey was stored successfully within 1Password itself.

But, now as of 11/2025 "syncable" passkeys are in "preview" for M365.  So you can now set them up for M365 accounts.  But only if an Administrator for your company joins the Passkey Preview via the Tenant's Entra ID "Authentication Methods" settings.  Once they join the preview, then "Passkey" will appear as an option for your new MFA, and it will successfully create the passkey without that generic error message anymore.
