Multitude of constant bugs

Hi team,

I'll admit I wasn't a fan of 1P8 since launch but it's really wearing me down and I'm starting to consider if there are better options. It would be a massive undertaking (I think I've been with 1P since V2) but even after all this time 1P8 is still just a mess for me.

  1. My vault keeps switching from "All Accounts" to an organisational vault meaning my searches come up blank
  2. I'm constantly having issues where 1P in the browser does nothing when clicked or takes ages to unlock or show any UI after it's unlocked
  3. The main window very often opens behind other apps meaning it's hard to even tell if anything is happening
  4. I can't believe the date format is still not resolved
  5. The search UI is awkward

There are a few nice improvements but there's just so much friction and frustration that I'd rather go without. I'm starting to question why I'm paying for this, do the positives still outweigh the negatives?

This is just feedback, I can't come on here and try to work through each issue as it crops up because they're intermittent and usually when I'm trying to get work done...

I'm sorry that you're running into trouble when using 1Password on your Mac. I'll reply below:

Is this when you're using 1Password in the browser? Or the 1Password for Mac app? Can you send me steps that I can follow so that I can try to reproduce the issue on my end?

That definitely isn't right. It sounds like communication between the 1Password extension in your browser and the 1Password for Mac app has broken down. To fix this please do the following:

  1. Close all open web browsers.
  2. Right-click on the 1Password icon at the top of your Mac's screen and then click Quit. Wait until the icon disappears.
  3. Double-click on 1Password from your Mac's Application folder.
  4. Open your web browser.

Let me know if that fixes the issue.

There are a couple of known issues open with our development team that might match the behaviour that you're seeing. Can you clarify how you're opening 1Password when this issue occurs? Is it from the Dock icon? The menu bar icon? Using a keyboard shortcut?

  1. I can't believe the date format is still not resolved

I'm sorry for the frustration. Our developers have recently pushed a fix for the date format issue to the nightly version of 1Password for Mac and, if testing goes well, the fix will be included in beta and then production updates as soon as possible.
