My Sidebar has no ellipses

I wanted to export my passwords and instructions say to click on the ellipses at the top of the sidebar and select "Export".  Well, there are no ellipses anywhere in my sidebar.  Now what?

1P version 8.10.58.4, Win10 PC, Firefox 135.0 (64-bit)

Ah, I think I know what's going on. Are you using 1Password.com instead of the desktop app? You'll only see the ellipses in the sidebar in the desktop app, not the web app at 1Password.com. 

You can install the desktop app using this guide: Get the 1Password apps

Let me know if that still doesn't work.

Hello @My1Pname! 👋

I'm sorry that you're missing a section of the sidebar in the 1Password for Windows app, that's definitely not normal behaviour. I notice that you're using a version of 1Password that's a few versions behind, as a start please follow these steps to update to the latest version: 

  1. Open and unlock the 1Password for Windows desktop app.
  2. Press CTRL + COMMA (,) on your keyboard to open the Settings window. 
  3. Click About.
  4. Click Check for Updates.


Follow the prompts to update to the latest version of 1Password (8.10.62 at the time of writing). If that doesn't work then let me know.

Hi Dave,

That certainly didn't work.  Cntrl+Comma doesn't do anything and looking at the Settings menu, there is no "About" line as you can see in the picture.

I'm glad that we were able to solve the mystery. Installing the desktop app will allow you to export your items. Let me know if you run into any other issues. 🙂
