Dear 1Password Team,

I am writing to propose an enhancement to the device management functionality within 1Password.

Currently, in the "Linked to your Account" section of the web interface's "My Profile" page, I can view and remove devices connected to my account. However, the browser extensions (Edge, Chrome, etc.) lack specific device identification, making it difficult to distinguish which extension belongs to which physical device. This necessitates multiple attempts to manage them effectively.

Proposed Enhancements:

  • Browser Extension Labeling: Implement a feature that allows users to add custom labels or annotations to browser extensions within the "Linked to your Account" section. This would enable users to easily identify which extension corresponds to a specific device. For example, I could label an extension as "John's Work Laptop Chrome" or "Home PC Edge."
  • Desktop Application Device Management: Extend the "Linked to your Account" functionality to the 1Password desktop application. This would provide users with a centralized location to manage all connected devices, including browser extensions, directly from their computers.
    These improvements would significantly streamline device management and enhance the user experience by providing clearer identification and control over connected devices.

Browser Extension Labeling: Implement a feature that allows users to add custom labels or annotations to browser extensions within the "Linked to your Account" section. This would enable users to easily identify which extension corresponds to a specific device. For example, I could label an extension as "John's Work Laptop Chrome" or "Home PC Edge."

That's a neat idea. While I can't make any promises, I've filed a feature request with our product team to have them consider adding such a tagging feature to the "Linked to your Account" section in a user's 1Password account. 

Desktop Application Device Management: Extend the "Linked to your Account" functionality to the 1Password desktop application. This would provide users with a centralized location to manage all connected devices, including browser extensions, directly from their computers.
These improvements would significantly streamline device management and enhance the user experience by providing clearer identification and control over connected devices.

This is already here! You can find the "Linked to your Account" section in the desktop app by following these steps: 

  1. Open and unlock the 1Password desktop app.
  2. Click your account or collection at the top of the sidebar and click Manage Accounts. 
  3. Select that account that you'd like to manage. 
  4. Click Your Details.
  5. Scroll down to the "Linked to your Account" section.

Actually being able to set the 'id' or added remark from both locations would be superb (e.g. being able to change/update it both from the specific extension as well as from the profile page)
