No Vault Items On "About:Blank" Page

Hi,

This issue just started happening, so it definitely is a recent update (my last known working version was v8.10.78.??).

In Chrome and Edge, my default URL for new tabs is "about:blank".  When on an "about:blank" page, I can log in to 1Password no issues, but then "All Items," "Suggestions," "Favorites," etc., are all empty, displaying the message, "No items in this vault," "No suggestions found," "You currently have no favorites," etc.

As soon as I navigate to a non-"about:blank" site, when I click on the 1Password extension icon, it works as normal.

Again, this just started happening in the version I am noticing now, which is v8.10.80.23.

My last system backup was on June 6th and when I did a restore of Chrome and Edge, the 1Password extension was 8.10.78.??.

Again, up to and including that version, the "about:blank" page was not an issue.  I don't know if the versions in between the .78. and .80. worked or also had the issue because I only noticed the issue with v8.10.80.23.

I use the extension "New Tab Redirect" to go to "about:blank".

Thank you!

Thanks for confirming that the issue is now resolved! The latest version of 1Password in the browser does indeed contain a fix for the issue. If anyone else sees the same issue, update to the latest version:

I'm sorry that you ran into an issue with unlocking 1Password after updating, it sounds like something went wrong with the communication between 1Password in the browser and the desktop app. If you see the same issue again then let me know.

Hello @Nusaram! 👋

I'm sorry that you're not seeing item suggestions when accessing the about:blank page in Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Our developers have recently coded a fix for this issue and it's currently being tested in the beta version of 1Password in the browser.

When testing is complete, we plan to release the fix to the stable version as soon as possible.

Hello @1P_Dave!

v8.10.82.29 was installed today and the issue has been resolved!  Thank you!

But something strange happened...

  • When I started Edge, the 1P extension stayed in an unlocked state; however, nothing happened when I clicked on it.
  • Closing and restarting Edge didn't solve the problem.
  • I tried Chrome and same issue!
  • Cleared cache, etc., rebooted.
  • Edge:  Same issue.
  • Chrome:  Same issue(?)...it wasn't responding, but then I decided to try to logon via the desktop app.  Once I did, the Chrome 1P extension finally opened.
  • Re-tried Edge:  Issue resolved!
  • Cleared cache, etc., rebooted and all is still well, so issue definitely gone!

Thanks to the team for getting this new version released!
