Passkey support inconsistencies between platforms

I realize support for passkeys is still very much WIP, so just reporting.

On Android I am Beta 8.1.0.24. In Watchtower, it will show sites that have Passkey support. However, it will NOT let me actually add a passkey to the site - when I set up passkey for a site, it automatically goes to the Google Password Manager, and does not give an option for 1Password.

On my Windows laptop using the Brave extension 2.19.0, it DOES allow me to add a new passkey into 1Password. When I set up the new passkey, it gives me the option to Add or Update. However, Watchtower does NOT show passkey-amenable sites.

Note that once I have added a passkey to a 1Password entry using the Brave extension, I CAN see it in the Android app. I just cannot add a passkey on Android.

Summary on passkey support:
Android: Watchtower works, adding passkey doesn't
Brave extension: Watchtower doesn't work, adding passkey does

Hello @Rgrin! 👋

I'm sorry that passkey unlock isn't working on all of your devices. 1Password requires Android 14 or later to save and sign in with passkeys, can you check to see if you're running a compatible version: Check & update your Android version - Android Help

Only apps with built-in passkey support are compatible with 1Password at this time.

On my Windows laptop using the Brave extension 2.19.0, it DOES allow me to add a new passkey into 1Password. When I set up the new passkey, it gives me the option to Add or Update. However, Watchtower does NOT show passkey-amenable sites.

Are you using the 1Password for Windows desktop app? If you are then you should see Watchtower flag Logins that you can save a passkey for by clicking on Watchtower in the sidebar and then Passkeys available. If you don't yet have the desktop app installed then you can find it here:

I hope that helps!

I'm on Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3. No desktop app, just Brave extension. It's a work laptop, so I cannot install the Windows app.
