Passkey using a QR code

Let me ask a question about signing in with a Passkey using a QR code.

When trying to sign in to Gmail with a Passkey on a PC without 1Password installed, a QR code is displayed. If the Gmail Passkey is registered in 1Password, is it possible to scan this QR code with 1Password to sign in?

Thanks for the question! Yes, if your passkey for your Google account is saved in 1Password then you can scan a QR code on your PC with your mobile device's camera app and use 1Password on the mobile device to sign in to your Google account (Gmail) on the PC.

Make sure that you've setup 1Password to autofill on your mobile device first:

Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂

It is not possible to scan the QR code directly using 1Password instead of the roundabout way of opening the camera app and then getting that to go to 1Password? Microsoft's Authenticator does this.

Hi @abubasim, this is the expected flow for passkey sign-ins right now. Opening the camera app first is the intended step before 1Password takes over. We don't have a way to skip it at the moment.
