Question

Passkey working then not

My bank - Ubank.com.au - has an app I can sign in to using a passkey and that is their preferred method.

It asks if I want to create one, I do, and all is peachy.  1Password saves it where I say and uses it with FaceID if I'm logged in to 1Password and asks me to log in if not.

But some time later - and I don't know if it is number of accesses or date, but 20+ accesses and at least 15 days -it is as if that passkey no longer exists.  It wants me to create a new one.

But the 1Password app says the passkey is there same as always.

IOS 18.3.2

as far as I know the 1Password app on IOS is up to date.

Forgot to mention that ubank support blames 1Password and says that "they change their passkey each time you use it" which is absolute nonsense but that's what they said...  I suspect there may be some issue with 1Password that has been garbled in transmission.

so i left it alone for a day or so waiting to see if I got a reply here.

THen I tried again and what do you know... it worked!

So it is definitely at the ubank end and their rep blaming 1Password was as shonky as I thought it was.

Guess I now keep track of how long I have to wait!

Hello @Zebee! 👋

I'm sorry that you ran into an issue when signing in using a passkey on Ubank.com.au on your iOS device and I'm glad that things are working now.

If you run into the same issue again in the future then can you tell me the following:

  1. When signing into the Ubank app on your iOS device fails, can you still sign into Ubank's website using 1Password on a desktop Mac or PC: Save and sign in with passkeys in your browser
  2. Can you post a screenshot of the error message that you see on your iOS device?
