Question

Password filling twice

When I use the browser extension with the fingerprint activation to unlock, and if there is only one entry for the site in question, the password field fills twice. As far as I can tell, this happens on every site. I don't know if it happens if/when I'm forced to activate the extension by typing my password. Works fine on mobile I think.

@npb and @MVRLon

I'm sorry for the continued inconvenience. I've just tested again and I'm no longer able to reproduce the issue. I'm running the following:

  • 1Password for Firefox: 2.23.3
  • 1Password for Mac: 8.10.33
  • Firefox: 126.0

Could you update to the latest versions and let me know if you still see the issue on your end? If you do then what website do you see the issue on?

Well suddenly I can't reproduce it either. Has there been a new release since last Friday?

1Password for Firefox: 2.23.3
1Password for Mac: 8.10.33 (81033001)
Firefox: 126.0

In general for me, it was any website the first time you do a fill after unlocking and filling with Command + \

Thank you for your reply!

@npb. There were a https://releases.1password.com/mac/8.10/#1password-for-mac-8.10.33 in the last two weeks, but not related to this issue. Nevertheless, I am glad that you cannot reproduce the problem.

@MVRLon. I am sorry to hear that you are still running into this. So that I can take a closer look at the issue you are experiencing, I would like to request that you send us some information to mailto:support+forum@1Password.com.

With your email, please include:

I look forward to assisting you further.

@1P_Evon it has returned. One thing I did notice is that (I think) it has to self-lock. I've never been able to reproduce it by locking 1Password manually and then trying to fill.

I've sent a screen recording, ID JEG-48693-848

@npb

Thank you for sending in that screen recording, I see that my colleagues has passed it along to our development team.

I would like to add that this is still happening after all this time when using the hotkey in Firefox when the application is locked.

It's been so long with no fix in sight that I'm seriously considering not renewing my subscription, because I'm getting tired of having to work around this issue in my main browser. Seriously, I get that this may be an extremely hard problem to pin down because not even I can reproduce it all the time (although I do encounter it every day, don't get me wrong) and it's probably to do with the interaction between the main program and the browser extension. But it's been forever and a day and this is commercial software, once money is involved there's just naturally a higher standard that you get held to.

For the record, here's all the version numbers (everything should be the latest):
- macOS Sequoia 15.1
- Firefox 132.0 (aarch64)
- 1Password for Mac 8.10.50 (81050025)
- 1Password browser extension version 8.10.48.25

Please, this needs to get fixed sooner rather than later at this point.

@QuentinWilson

I'm sorry for the continued impact, I've passed your comments along to the team internally. For the time being I would suggest the following as potential workarounds:

  1. Unlock 1Password before using Command-Backslash to fill your login.
  2. Fill your login credentials by clicking on the inline menu on the page rather than using Command-Backslash:

This still reproduces on Firefox. Any chance it could get prioritized with the dev team?
