password generation

This is very interesting which I have observed. I generate password through 1password app is rated as fantastic or very good. the same generation through 1password extension is good. Same as in the length and other parameters are the same.

It should be the same. Is the generation quality different?

Hello @vishalsheth! 👋

I'm sorry that you're not seeing the same password strength being applied when you generate a password using the desktop app vs 1Password in the browser. So that I can better understand the situation can you share the following:

  1. Are you filling and saving the generated password directly using 1Password in the browser? Or are you copying and pasting the generated password?
  2. Can you share a screenshot of the password settings from the password generator in both the desktop app and the browser extension?

I generated the password through the browser extension and it got updated to the app through its process. Here it says good. 
when I copy paste the same it shows as good.

Thanks for the reply. Can you share a screenshot of the password settings from the password generator in both the desktop app and the browser extension?

And can you reproduce the issue on autofill.me (a test website) and show me the different passwords generated by the desktop app and browser for that website and the strength classifications for each? Please don't share any passwords that you're using for actual website/services.

This is a good site. It would not show realtime issue where a login or data is added but then not updated or opened for a long time. Also it is not as complex as the software. Does it retain previous generation, entries, etc similar to that of the app?

 

I have shared the screenshots above. The password generation and addition went through fine. It managed to update every time. I do face issue with certain sites where it does not automatically update the generated password. That's when I have to copy paste. The other situation is where it doesn't allow me to use password generation apps to be used.

If you see above I tried to add VISA card. I allowed it to add to ip8 it took it as AMEX card. You can look into it. I had selected VISA.

I have also added the date expiry alert issue. It would be great to have future dates where the alert is happening after number of days or months or years.
