Performance issues with Mac desktop app

I posted to reddit /1password recently if anyone else was having issues as well and yes, of course, everyone is reporting slow and laggy experiences. 

finally came to the forum here to see whats what and look and behold - I see slow and laggy posts everywhere !

 

guys ! we are paying to use this software - it shouldn't have to be like this ! 

updated last night on macOS 15.3.2 (M2 MBP) to 1p 8.10.78 and it just stalled. I wanted to edit an entry and it took about 1 minute or more for the app to respond. WTF !

 

my partner and I both have accounts and share a vault w passwords, so, I can't really switch away willy nilly but this is unacceptable 

 

in Safari I click in the pw field to unlock and nothing happens; when I open the app and switch back to safari still nothing. then I unlock the extension in the adressbar and it'll unlock . the behaviour is inconsistent and makes no sense. 

 

I have been on 1p since like 2010 but the last year or so have been one bad experience after another. the transition for Papers was horrible !!

 

fix it !!!

 

oh and last night I wanted to login here to rant and click forgot user password and never got a reset email. I just created a new account for this !!!?!

I'm sorry that you're running into performance issues with the 1Password for Mac desktop app. We've recently received a few other reports of similar behavior and I'd like to investigate further by asking you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

Send a diagnostics report (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

With your email please include:

I am also having performance issues with it. Super laggy.

Send a diagnostics report (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

With your email please include:

hey there, I did all this and received an email asking me to completely de-install 1P and set it up from scratch. 

fairly straight forward procedure, and not unusual, unfortunately 1p is a pretty important part of my day to day and I cannot see myself doing this in the near future.  especially this part is not feasible "After the above you will need to modify your 1Password app settings back to your desired values as they will have been reset to default."

 

I've been with you guys since about 2011 and the beauty of it was / with minor inconveniences / 'set and forget' 

I realize the platforms and hardware you now cater to have diversified somewhat since then but I am paying for a seamless experience and that now requires my time and energy to work as advertised 🤷‍♂️

Same issue.  Your support ticket ID is ZQU-15444-249.

I had to send the diagnostic zipped as the size was 47M and larger then Gmail allowed.

Just signed up to this forum to say the same thing.

Have filed a ticket as well. But haven't got the automated reply as yet.

It's goddamn awful/nearly unusable.

Same here: 1Password is so slow now on macOS that it is becoming unusable.

Time to look for an alternative.

I'm sorry that you're also seeing a performance issue with 1Password on your Mac. I suspect that you're affected by a known issue that our development team recently identified where running the Intel version of 1Password for Mac on an Apple Silicon Mac can result in slow performance. 

Before we investigate further, try reinstalling 1Password from our website: Install 1Password

If that doesn't work, or if you're not using an Apple Silicon Mac, then let me know.
