Pixel 11 Pro biometrics not working, prompts for login every single time

I'm a long-time, experienced 1Password user. I set up a new Pixel 11 Pro (Android 17, latest build) last night, migrating from my Pixel 9 Pro. The 1Password app setup was pretty smooth. I simply had to put in my master password once, and the app started working...except for biometric authentication.

Even though I have biometrics turned on in the app settings (and yes, I've tried toggling it off and on), it never prompts me to log in with my fingerprint. Every single time 1Password is invoked, I have to type in my full master password.

As you can imagine, setting up a new phone requires me to do this dozens of times, and it is exceedingly painful.

I’m using the latest app version, 8.12.36, newly updated yesterday. Require account password is set to “Never”.

Is there anything I can try to fix this? Is this a known issue? I'm thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling 1Password.

I uninstalled the app, rebooted my phone, reinstalled it, and redid this setup from scratch, and now biometrics work.

I think that there is a bug in the flow that comes from a phone migration that 1Password's team should look into.

Hi @JasonDunnCA, thanks for posting! I’m sorry to hear that biometric unlock wasn’t working after migrating to a new device, but it’s good that this was resolved with a fresh setup.

We have a known issue at the moment that can cause 1Password for Android to request the account password for each unlock, even when biometrics are enabled, and I’ve added the details you’ve shared here to the issue on file to aid our developers in their investigation.
