Question

Please retain window and column sizing/positioning between releases

On first launch every time a new version of 1Password is released, I have a scrunched little window I have to resize to properly fit my screen and so I can see column contents adequately.

Please keep window positioning across version releases when possible.

This goes for the main 1Password client app window and any floating windows that one may interact with.

Hi @wagnerone, greetings. 👋 I've tested this out a bit and found that on my systems, the window size and position are consistent across updates.

Could you let me know what version of 1Password you're currently on, and what your OS name and version are? I'll be happy to look into this for you!

Thanks! It's happened to me when I updated to the recent v8 beta builds.

I'm currently on:
1Password for Mac 8.8.0, 80800165, on BETA channel
macOS Monterey 12.4 (21F79)

Thank you @wagnerone! We'll take this to the lab and see if we can replicate it. Thanks again for letting us know; I'm curious as to what might be behind it. 🧐

Hello again @wagnerone. So it turns out our Mac specialists have knowledge of this issue! Because fixing it probably involves discussing specifics of your system and/or 1Password setup, I'll ask you to send us a quick email at support@1Password.com, with a link to this discussion. We'll help you get it sorted out.

For those of us who work at 1Password, I've linked the technical information about this issue to this post, so that we have everything in one spot. 👍

I have this same problem - but, it's not just between releases, it's every time I start up 1Password as an app.

1Password for Mac 8.8.0, 80800185, on NIGHTLY channel, macOS 12.4.

Interestingly, on my M1 MBP, it retains the window size/preferences, but, on this MacPro, it does not. Been this way ever since 1P8 has existed and ran on this machine.

I can resize it on the MacPro, looks great, quit (menu bar app thing still working), re-open 1P8, and it's back to a default setting for size, etc.

Thank you for letting us know, @doetraar - this seems to have to do with a file that lets 1Password retain its window size, but the specific causes vary by system (and it does appear to be a system-specific issue, as you've noticed). We're happy to help you with it - and sending a short email to us at support@1Password.com is the way to go. We'll look forward to solving this for you!

Looks like this is resolved for me.

My ~/Library/Application\ Support/1Password/ directory was owned by root and my user could not write into it.

Thanks, wagnerone. I had the same issue as doetraar. Permissions for staff were set to read only and I changed to read and write to fix the issue.
