Question

Please tell me how I can stop the "Save to 1Password" popup on every single field

Please can someone help me before I uninstall this extension; this is driving me mad:

I've un-ticked the option I thought stops this:

How can I stop this popup from appearing - I don't ever want it to pop up UNLESS I click the little drop-down arrow.

This popup's positioning is really irritating - it almost always conceals the subsequent field, making it difficult to work my way through a field - the UX could be significantly better - e.g. make the popup smaller, the background slightly transparent, position it to the left or right of the field instead of below - there's plenty of ways this could and should be improved - the main one being that it really shouldn't ever be positioned on top of a form field.

Please could some kind person on the development team give some thought to the above suggestions :-)

Thank you,

Alex

Can anybody help with this please? :-(

I'm not entirely sure, but if you read correctly in your screenshot, it seems all but the option you deselected could be the correct one. They "offer to save", meaning they'll pop up with a "Save in 1Password" overlay. How about un-ticking one of those (or all) options and trying again?

Thank you, Michael - have tried that to no avail, sadly.

Still broken - the popup is showing all the time.

Hello @alexgreyhead2! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password's inline filling menu is getting in the way. Our development team is aware that the inline menu displays suggestions after you begin typing in a field, even when the “Show autofill suggestions when a form field is in focus” option is disabled. An internal work item is open to investigate this behaviour further.

In the meantime, you can press Esc on your keyboard to close the inline menu and continue typing.

Thank you, Dave - can I stress that the "press Escape to hide this popup" workaround is a major UX problem because a lot of websites interpret any press of Esc as a "cancel the whole current operation" request.

A really important case in point for commercial users is users of Jira Cloud software, where - when creating a new ticket - you are entering often quite a large amount of data into a modal popup window in the browser.

If and when 1Password pops up in a Jira field, it often obscures important information relating to the current field - e.g. if I'm entering a description, Jira is now putting a "related ticket AI suggestions" field below which updates in real-time, so anything which obscures this auto-suggestions area is a pain.

Pressing escape whilst creating a ticket here cancels and deletes all the information entered in the "new ticket" field, which can mean losing all the information entered - hugely frustrating! :-(

So if at all possible, if your UX experts could come up with a better way to position the popup (for example - why not place it to the immediate right of the cursor or the field, and make it smaller), and find a better way to hide it when not needed (e.g. auto-hide it after showing a small 10-second countdown - "Auto-hiding in 10 [cancel / hide now]").

Very much appreciate your time on this - I know a lot of thought goes into browser integrations but some aspects of the extension's behaviour can be a real pain in the bum after the 30th time they've interfered in a day ;o)

Hello! I've replied to you here.

My team is experiencing the same issue, but I also want to note that this popup is disrupting workflows in one of our platforms. Before using 1Password, the fields in this platform would populate a dropdown of common entries. This no longer happens with the 1PW field showing up on every text box. We would prefer 1Password to work for login use only - once past login, there is not a use for it in our case. Thank you!

@carolinebkrull

I'm sorry that you're seeing a similar issue. Are you able to share the name and website address of the website where you're seeing the issue? As well as a screenshot of where 1Password is appearing?

If you'd prefer to avoid posting this information in the public community then please send it to support@1Password.com along with a link to this thread.
