Question

Please update the Windows Tray Icon

The black and white icon used in the system tray for Windows is very challenging to see, particularly in dark mode. It's basically monochrome and blends in with other system icons like wifi or sound settings. See attached for an example. Note the lack of color or any other clear identity/definition, particularly in Dark Mode. It is lost in a sea of other icons.

I have been waiting for this to change for literally years. The old blue icon was great and very easy to spot. The new one annoys me every time I have to hunt to find it. I am begging you to please, please change the icon to at least match the one used literally everywhere else like in browser extensions or phone apps.,

Hello @Antaeus! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! I've passed along your suggestion that the icon in the Windows system tray be changed to one with more color. 🙂

Bringing the colorful icon back without the option to set the monochrome icon feels like a major regression. I use 1password across Windows/MacOS/Linux and now the system tray icon no longer looks native, except on MacOS where it remains monochrome. While I understand some people don't like the monochrome icon, it should at least be provided as an option.

It bothers me daily on Linux:

I would prefer the option to make it look like the MacOS one:

Not really all that "yee-haa"... it now mismatches with almost every other application because they take great effort to be monochrome. Very ugly and distracting. Hopefully this change is reverted ASAP.

Well, such things are subjective. With my Windows Dark scheme, it looks good for my setup look & feel. See below screenshot.

The only thing that is poorly done, is the icon size if Pinned to the Start Menu, It does not scale to the appropriate icon size for pinned items in the Start Menu (Windows 10 22H2). See screenshot below.

Over to you, 1Password coders.

When is it getting changed back? Many people dislike the change and want it to match with all the other applications that take effort to be monochrome.

Sorry to be contrary, but it seems this icon change was applied to Linux as well, and I personally hate colored system tray icons, because all the native tray icons are monochromatic.

I know this is totally just taste and not a high priority thing, but I get annoyed every time I look at the system tray now under KDE Plasma. An option to select between a colorful or monochrome icon would be great.

I totally understand you, bliles. I too think it'd be great to have a couple color options (monochromatic) to apply to the tray icon. It has my vote.👍🏾
