Production channel updates available but not shown in 1Password for Mac

I have seen this in the last few updates now, where I can see that there are one or more micro updates (e.g. ) available on the release notes page: https://releases.1password.com/mac/stable/#changelog

Note that I have configured 1Password to use the PRODUCTION channel, and I'm only comparing the version numbers to the stable releases mentioned on the release notes page.

However, pressing 'Check for Updates...' in 1Password for Mac only shows the About tab in the Preferences window, it doesn't show that there's a new update available, even though that is clearly stated in the release notes.

So, for example, now on 1Password for Mac 8.11.14 (81114027) and I click Settings > About > Release Notes and clearly see that 8.11.16 was released three days ago. But nowhere do I see any option of manually updating or the app showing that a new version is available.
Previously, I have had this for months without any auto-updating either.

Why not allow updates to be clearly visible in the app, and allow users to manually update to the latest version from the PRODUCTION channel through the app?

Hello @Visnetje! 👋

I'm sorry that you're running into update issues with 1Password for Mac. 1Password should automatically check for updates on a set schedule and alert you that a new update is available or update automatically if that option is set. On the About page you should see a "Check for updates" button: 

Can you post a screenshot of what you see on the About page? And can you tell me if you installed 1Password for Mac using the regular installer or the PKG installer: Deploy 1Password for Mac

As you can see from the screenshot, my version didn't show a Check for Updates button.

I decided to reinstall from https://1password.com/downloads/mac and the About window now shows Version 8.11.18 and this does show the Check for Updates button.

In case the issue comes back, I'll update this thread with a reply and new screenshot.

Thanks for the screenshot! Did you previously install 1Password using the PKG installer? That's a special version of 1Password meant for admins to use for deployment across their organizations and it doesn't include an automatic updater. You can read more here: Deploy 1Password for Mac and Windows

I'm glad that you're seeing the Check for Updates button after reinstalling 1Password using the App Installer.
