QR code detection failed

Mac 1Password : 8.12

macOS 26.1

The Mac version consistently fails to read the QR on the screen (from Target.com). I've also tried the 1Password popup in Safari and don't see where the scan icon would be.

What am I missing? Thanks.

Hi @FreeholdMark1,

In Safari, you should be able to scan the QR code by following these steps:

  1. Click the 1Password icon in Safari's toolbar, to the left of where you enter web addresses in your screenshot.
  2. Select your Target Login item.
  3. Click the ellipsis at the top right of the item's details and select Scan QR Code.

As for scanning in the desktop app, have you had the same issue setting up two-factor authentication for other websites this way, or is it specific to the Target website?

Hi @FreeholdMark1 thanks for reaching out to us.

To help me better understand the situation, I'd like to ask you to take a screenshot of what you're seeing and include it with your next reply:  Take a screenshot on your Mac

Please make sure that the screenshot includes your full screen and that you have blurred or obscured the actual QR code as well as any personal information from the screenshot before uploading it.

Let me know if you have any questions!

This was to login to Target.

I hope this is clear.

Thanks.

Hi @FreeholdMark1,

Just a heads up I edited your images to obscure some information that might be PII!

Trevor_1P,
Well, I'm embarrassed. Your crucial words, "in Safari's toolbar, to the left of where you enter web addresses" made me realize that I was using the 1Password icon in the Mac's menu bar, not the browser's. So I was doing the wrong thing! I've set up various 2FAs but don't remember exactly how.

So let's call it solved.

Thanks for your help.
