QR code scanning issues via browsers on windows

I'm trying to add a one-time passcode to one of my accounts that I have a QR code copied to my clipboard, and also just pasted into ms paint. I'm trying to use the website to scan the QR code, however, every time I try to use the scan qr code button nothing happens. If I look in the developer console I see the following error message: Uncaught Error: scanTotp is not defined on ActionProvider

This is happening on both Chrome and a brand new fresh install of firefox.

I'm currently within my trial period for 1password and would like to figure out if this is going to work or not before the end of it to see if I want to continue with 1password. I'm also having issues with saving passwords on android...

I'm sorry that you're unable to save a one-time password to 1Password using the "Scan QR code" feature. The QR code has to be visible on the website itself for you to scan it. If you open the QR code in MS Paint, 1Password in the browser isn't able to see that.

To scan a QR code in MS Paint you can use the desktop app: Use 1Password as an authenticator for sites with two-factor authentication - In the 1Password apps

If you are trying to scan a QR code open in a website in your browser then are you able to tell me if the issue exists for any website where you're trying to save your one-time password? Or does it only exist on a specific website? If it's only one specific website then can you share the address of that website?

Apologies for the confusion. This issue was not via the extension, there was a button on the one time passcode field on my.1password.com while I was editing an entry. Hovering over it said it would work with things copied to the clipboard (which is what I was trying to do) or on screen (which is why I invoked ms paint as a alternative attempt), and clicking on it gave the exception message that I posted above in the dev console.

Your documentation even says that it should work via clipboard or on screen:

Interestingly today the button no longer exists while editing the one time password field on my.1password.com and it is now just a regular text box:

So perhaps someone on the development team noticed this was broken and took it down already while it's fixed?

Thank you for the clarification. The button that you're referring to was indeed recently removed from the 1Password.com web app and was never functional. I'll reach out to our documentation team to get the support article corrected.

To scan your QR code, you can install the desktop app and use the QR code scanner there: Get the 1Password apps
