QR code turned off?

Messing about in 1Password in an effort to set up 2FA on more of my logins, I found a 2FA login via Watchtower, clicked on [Scan QR Code] got the next window to accept or deny 1Password access to my camera, got slammed with a sudden work requirement and seeing no way to just close that window I clicked on deny.

Now, when I go back to any of the available sites to set up 2FA, clicking on the [Scan QR Code] produces nothing.

Is there some way to reset my Mac or 1Password so [Scan QR Code] will once again work???

Thanks for reaching out. You can give the 1Password desktop app permission scan QR codes on your Mac by following these steps:

Click on the Apple logo in the top left corner of your screen and then click Settings.
Click System Settings.
Click Privacy & Security.
Click Screen & System Audio Recording.
Toggle 1Password on in the list of apps.
Right-click on the 1Password app icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen and click Quit.
Re-open 1Password from your Applications folder.

Then try to scan a QR code again. Let me know if you run into any issues.

Thank you for replying Dave.

When I went to Screen & Audio Recording, 1Password was turned on.

What I did was toggle it off then back on again and then found in 1Password a site offering 2FA. There were two choices there Scan QR Code and Ignore.

When I clicked on Scan QR Code, nothing happened.

I tried a restart of the Mac, but once again Scan QR Code did not work.

Thanks for the reply. Do you actually have the website open and displaying its QR code (on screen) for 1Password to see and scan? Do you see any error messages like "QR code detection failed" on the screen after you click "Scan QR code"?

And, just to confirm, are you using the desktop app to scan the QR code?

Dave - I now realize that setting up 2FA was considerably more complicated that I thought requiring that I go to each site and follow different - and in some cases not very clear - instructions for setting this up. I give up, but thank you for help.

When, on 1P, I went to a site which was identified as offering 2FA, I clicked on [Learn how to turn on 2FA] this took me to the account where I found the individual instructions. I mistakenly believed by clicking on the [Scan QR code] in 1P, I was going to be presented with a QR code that would simplify the whole process, but I now understand such is not the case.

Again, appreciated your help.

You're right that each website will have a slightly different process for setting up 2FA just like they have a slightly different process for changing passwords. Once you go through a website's specific process and the website presents the QR code, 1Password will be there to scan that QR code and save your one-time password.
