@1P_Dave I think I found the culprit for this (it may be totally unrelated though). Often times, Quick Access does not show up for me. However, I think this is related to macOS Spaces feature. What I found:

  • As long as 1P (the main app) is running in the background (window closed, but not quit), quick access will only open on the macOS Space that the 1P window was last active on.
  • If you switch to another macOS space and hit the keyboard shortcut for Quick Access, nothing seems to happen. It does open though, just not on the current macOS space, so you just don't see it.
  • If you switch back to the other macOS Space, you will find Quick Access open there.
  • None of this happens if you quit the 1P main app (not just close the window, but CMD-Q it). In that case, the Quick Access window appears on the macOS space you are invoking it from.

Let me know if this is related, or if I should open a separate thread.

Hello @cryptochrome! 👋

I'm sorry that Quick Access isn't opening in the correct macOS desktop on your Mac. It does seem like an unrelated issue to what the other user reported so I split your comment into a new thread.

I can't reproduce the issue on my Mac when I try the following:

  1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
  2. Click on the red button in the upper left corner to close the main window.
  3. Switch to another desktop by sliding three fingers up on the touchpad and choosing another desktop.
  4. Press Shift-Command-Spacebar to invoke Quick Access.

Quick Access opens on the right desktop. Can you tell me if I misunderstood your reproduction steps and the issue?

Can you also tell me if you have any full screen apps open when this occurs? I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi @1P_Dave

should we continue in this thread or should I open a new one, given that it's probably a different issue?

As for your reproduction steps: Seems about right. What you could try is making sure the space you switched to is actually active (by clicking anywhere on the desktop or an open app on that space). That's the only idea I got.

No full-screen apps open.

Maybe it's also related to Spaces setting. Mine are like this:

@cryptochrome

Thank you for the reply. So that I can investigate this further, can you reproduce the issue one more time and then I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

With your email please include:

Please send the entire file.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!

Hi @1P_Dave - this is totally weird, but I can no longer reproduce the issue. The one thing that changed on my end is an upgrade to macOS Sonoma. Maybe it was just a quirk in the previous OS version, I don't know. It's working fine now.

I am having this same issue, it just started happening over the past couple of weeks, potentially related to a macOS update or else it’s a 1Password update regression. I am running macOS 26.6.2 (25G83), and 1Password for Mac 8.10.56 (81056028). It doesn’t matter if I have the 1Password app window open, minimized, or closed, the Quick Look keyboard shortcut will only display on one Desktop/space. If I quit the 1Password app and unlock my vaults the Quick Look shortcut will work on any Desktop/space for a short while, and then after an unknown amount of time it no longer appears properly.

As for my Desktop/Space settings (Mission Control) they are as follows:

  • Automatically rearrange Spaces based on most recent use = Disabled/off
  • When switching to an application, switch to a Space with open windows for the application = Enabled/on
  • Group windows by application = Disabled/off
  • Displays have separate Spaces = Enabled/on
  • Drag window to top of screen to enter Mission Control = Enabled/on

I only have 1 Display (Apple Studio Display) and I run my macbook Pro in clamshell mode. I do also have Raycast v 2 installed but I’ve already gone through all Raycast keyboard shortcuts as well as system keyboard shortcuts to ensure there are no overlaps there.

Edit: It seems like the problem happens after I lock my mac when I step away for a few minutes. When I come back and unlock my mac the Quick Look pop-up gets stuck on a single Desktop/space (this time it was the first one, unsure if it is always the first one or not) until I quit 1Password and re-launch it.

Edit 2: Ok, I think I’ve figure out what maybe introduces this issue. Within the 1Password Settings > Security: I have “Lock on sleep, screensaver, or switching users” Enabed/checked. However, a few weeks ago I unchecked/disabled this setting so a Claude Code remote workflow wouldn’t get interrupted and that is about the time this issue started cropping up. I just re-enabled that setting, locked my mac for the same duration as last time, unlocked it and tried the Quick Look keyboard shortcut and I was given an unlock vault password prompt which after completing the Quick Look shortcut worked reliable on all Desktops/spaces.

So it appears that if the mac is locked / goes to sleep and the vaults are left unlocked, upon return the Quick Look pop-up gets stuck on some other Desktop/space (maybe it’s always the first one, unsure) until 1Password is fully quit and relaunched.

Hi @Almondsquare35, it looks as if you’re running quite an outdated version of 1Password - the most recent version is 8.12.36. I would recommend keeping 1Password fully up to date to ensure you receive all available new features and bug fixes.

Could you update to the latest version, then let me know whether the issue persists?
