Re-integrate the timing of locking of vaults

I'm sorry for the confusion. When you say that you have a "personal vault" and a "work vault" do you mean that you have two different vaults in the same 1Password account? Or that you have two different 1Password accounts?

If it's the latter then the best way to use multiple accounts with 1Password for Mac is to use the same account password for all of your accounts. You can read more here: How to use multiple accounts

Once all of your accounts are using the same account password they'll unlock at the same time. Let me know if I misunderstood the issue.

I have two separate accounts, one belonging to my employer, and the other my personal account. I have both listed in my 1Password account list.

In 1P7, as far as I can remember (I mean, it was all of two days ago), I never had a problem with the work account locking me out. Now, after installing 1P8, it does so frequently. I know for a fact that the owners of the work account have changed nothing, so it's not on their end; I have to assume it's something in the way 1P8 handles multiple accounts that's changed.

Correct, 1Password 8 features a new and more secure unlocking process than older versions of the app. The new process only unlocks the account associated with a particular account password. This change was made so that your account is only ever unlocked using the account password that you've chosen for that account.

This was a popular change requested by organizations in particular. Organizations, such as employers, regularly impose requirements on their employees' account passwords to make sure that they meet a minimum level of complexity and strength and this ensures that a given account can only ever be unlocked using that strong password.

Using the same account password for both of your accounts will enable you to unlock them at the same time. Alternatively, you can unlock all accounts at the same time by using Touch ID or Apple Watch unlock:

• Use Touch ID to unlock 1Password on your Mac
• Use your Apple Watch to unlock 1Password on your Mac

The (only) funny thing about this is that the password on my work account is actually less complex than the password on my personal account.

The problem here is that it's astoundingly inconvenient to unlock the work account. I'm trying to get something done, I try to log into a website or app, and, after several seconds, realise that the reason I can't find the password is that the work account has locked itself (on a schedule other than my personal account). I then have to open the 1Password app, go find the work account item in the sidebar, click on it, enter the password, and then go back to my app or website to get the password entered. I cannot emphasise enough how annoying this is.

I don't have a fingerprint reader on my Mac keyboard, I don't own an Apple Watch. The only way I know of to unlock the thing is the procedure above, which is clunky and inconvenient, when it used to be virtually invisible to me (typing my single master password into the box was a few seconds of reflex action). This change really is poorly thought out (I find it not at all surprising that appeasing business interests has made life for the average user more difficult).

Here are my suggestions for changes that should be made:-

• The timing of lockouts on all accounts needs to be synchronised or separately modifiable, by the user.

• No account should be locked due to 'inactivity' unless all of them are. The fact that I haven't happened to use a password from a given account shouldn't matter if I've been using passwords from other accounts all the while; to me, they are all one big vault if I have them all open.

• Restore the option of using a single master password to unlock all of my accounts, as I used to.

• The mechanism for entering the password for an account needs to be made much simpler and more straightforward. I should not have to launch the entire 1Password app to unlock an account that has locked itself due to inactivity.
