Request to include changelog in Debian package

I regularly review the changelogs for my Debian packages using the apt changelog command, which provides the changelog if it is included in the .deb package.

Recently, I tried to run the following command after installing 1Password:


apt changelog 1password

However, I received the following error message:


E: Failed to fetch changelog:/1password.changelog Changelog unavailable for 1password=8.10.9

Could you please consider adding the changelog to the 1Password Debian package? This would help users like me to stay informed about the changes and updates in each release.

Hey @Doug0915, I apologize for our delayed response. While I can't make any promises, I've gone ahead and submitted a feature request on your behalf to add changelogs to the 1Password Debian package.

In the meantime, you can find details about the latest changes and updates on our releases page.

So I thought I'd check up since it's been 3 months. Did the devs look crosseyed at the feature request with "Meh, extra work. Not gunna happen"? Or maybe "yea, probably should. I'll get to it one day" ;) Or was it buried underneath a pile of higher feature requests that might get reviewed in 2035 or something. Thanks!

It looks like this particular request is still in the review process.

While I don't think it'll take until 2035 😆, I don't have an exact timeline to share for an update on this request.
