Reverting back from Apple Passwords

I also downloaded Apple Password, thinking I could use this is as a backup. But it has blocked my use of Password One and when I turn off Apple Password in System Settings, Password One is no longer active. Can someone help me? I would like to revert to Password One as my primary password vault and either turn off Apple Password or delete it altogether. Do you think if I just delete the app, my wonder Password One will return? Roger

Thanks for reaching out. Just to make sure: you're using 1Password, not a different app called "Password One"? If you've installed an app called "Password One" then this isn't related to 1Password.

I can definitely help with this. On which device are you running into trouble? On a Mac or on an iPhone/iPad? Can you also tell me which browser you're using?

Definitely latest version of 1Password, my beloved program.
I am using a new Mac 2 on latest OS Sierra but also access 1 Password on iPhone and iPad but it is the Mac I use most for high volume work. I have been using 1 Password with Safari extension and it has worked like a dream. Now I am in a real funk to lose it. When I turn the Apple Password off in System Settings, 1Password does not operate properly. It offers my email address, no password to sign in. I hope you can help Dave. I tried to nuke APPLE Password but it looks like a native app and refuses to die.

My mistake, just recovering from a knee operation.

My unit is a Mac Studio, near new, running on Sequoia V15.0.1. Safari browser.

I am in real trouble. I have 400 carefully curated passwords with additional data and this silly Apple thing is causing havoc.

Thank you for the reply. Let's focus on the Mac for now and then we can also make sure that 1Password is setup properly on your other devices if you're running into issues there as well. As a first step, follow the steps in this guide to turn off the built-in password manager in all of your browsers on the Mac:

• Turn off the built-in password manager in your browser

This will prevent conflicts with the Apple Passwords app. Next, make sure that 1Password for Safari is installed:

Once 1Password for Safari is installed, try to fill login credentials again using these steps: Get to know 1Password in your browser - Fill logins and other items

I have tried to follow your steps but am still in big trouble.

Here are my responses:

I DON'T UNDERSTAND "TRY TO FILL LOGIN CREDENTIALS AGAIN?" Surely this does not mean I have to re-enter all my passwords again?

ISSUES:

1. When I try to login to some of my favourite sites, my credentials are blank or I am asked to open 1Password, which is already open. So a complete fail. When moving to other sites, I Ama agin asked to open 1Password.

2. When I open 1Password I am presented with two login options: 1Password Account (Roger Bayliss) and simply 1Password. Which one do I use?

3. The program is very slow to load and open, way longer than before. And it is 'sticky.'

4. Opening some websites is OK - but mainly not.

5. In Safari/settings, I have two installed options. One is "1Password", the other is "1Password for Safari." Do I need to click both? I have also ticked "Allow in private browsing."

6. The program is not working on my iPhone.

As you can imagine, having one of my most valued and productive programs go awry due to the Apple program is simply awful. I am doing my best and do hope you can help me regain normal operation, as well as my sanity.

It is getting worse. I have probably made some incorrect choices, no nothing is working at all. When I click on the 1Password icon in the Safari tool bar, it simply opens 1Password and does not provide the three bars to get to settings and invoke 1Password as my password manager on Safari. Should I scrub everything and start again? I know it is my fault that I opened Apple Passwords, but I am now in terrible shape with nothing working. I even tried to use Apple Password without success.

Sorry, I am not an amateur, but this issue has really messed me up. I hope you have some sympathy for me.

Will do immediately and the email will allow me to include screen shots. My Mac consultant has warned me for years not to jump in and experiment with new programs. He is right. Leave well alone. I boast about how smooth 1Password is and look forward to its return.
