Safari Extension Always Requiring TouchID to fill every single field

This is on macOS 26.6.2, Safari 21624.5.1.11.3, 1Password 8.12.34, Extension 8.12.34

 

For about the last week or two, For every field that I want to fill in safari, it finds the right record to fill it with, but requires Touch ID to fill it. It wants it separately for usernames vs passwords. If I use the autofill button from the top bar, it fills everything fine without prompting. This is just the auto popups directly on the fields. Any Ideas what might be causing this?

It sounds like you might be using the new macOS AutoFill experience that was released recently: Use 1Password to sign in to apps and websites on your Mac

You can disable the default Touch ID verification prompt, which is coming from macOS itself, with these steps: 

  1. From the menu bar, select the Apple menu  > System Settings.
  2. In the sidebar, select Touch ID & Password.
  3. Turn off Use Touch ID for autofilling passwords.

Let me know if that doesn’t work.

This fix worked for me.  But not only disabling the default Touch ID verification prompt action above...I had to go to the link that Dave shared and follow all of those instructions to a T.  This fixed everything on my iMac running Safari.

I saw another post right after I posted this, and yes that was the issue. I have to say though that this is quite possibility the worst user experience.
