Hi,

Since a few weeks, everytime I clear my browser cache, the extension settings returns to defaults. E.g. autosubmit keep being enabled even though I disabled it before.

Thanks !

1Password Version: 8.10.38
Extension Version: 2.26.1
OS Version: iPadOS 17.6.1
Browser: Safari

Hello @Tcheuck! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. By "clear cache" do you mean that you choose the Clear History option in Safari?

If the answer is yes then this is expected behaviour in the Safari web browser, Safari web extensions (of which 1Password for Safari is one) store configuration data in the same bucket that Safari clears when you choose to clear history/cache. Clearing Safari's history/cache will reset 1Password for Safari's preferences.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @1P_Dave ,

Thank you for your answer!

I just realized that I was using defaults settings from now so it was transparent for me. But now that I want to permanently disable « Sign in automatically after autofill » that’s really problematic. 😕

@Tcheuck

Thanks for the reply. Other browsers, such as those based on Chromium or Firefox, don't clear the extension data store when clearing history so switching to a different browser might be an option to consider if this is important to you.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason why you're clearing Safari's history so frequently?

@1P_Dave I prefer avoid switching to a third party bowser just for that as Safari the best for iOS IMHO.

This is a family iPad but I use it for work-related tasks the day. At the end of the day I clear Safari cache for security reasons and other family members can use it.

@Tcheuck

Thank you for explaining your use case. Have you considered using Password AutoFill to save and fill logins from 1Password in Safari instead of the web extension: Use 1Password to save logins and sign in to apps and websites on your iPhone and iPad

Password AutoFill doesn't autosubmit and you won't lose settings for this filling method after clearing Safari's history.

@1P_Dave : I already use autofill too, but I prefer the web extension which is more user-friendly and as a lot more features.

@Tcheuck

For the time being, not clearing your history/cache in Safari or switching to a different browsers browser are the best options available to avoid the issue.

I've passed your feedback along to the team who will continue to look for ways to improve the 1Password experience in all browsers. 🙂
