Search email accounts as logins

Hi all! Not sure when this went into effect but it’s been this way for a while. It’s been bugging me for some time that when I go to google.com and sign in using one password, my email accounts don’t show up in the results to select from. It hasn’t always been this way and I’d love to be able to use one password if I’m logging into anything using my email credentials.

Thanks for the reply. 1Password in the browser is only able to fill the following types of items: Logins, Credit Cards, and Identities.

That being said, I can see how it would be useful to fill other types of items, such as Email Account items, and I've filed a feature request on your behalf to have the team look into adding this capability in the future. Thank you for the feedback!

Hello @apricat! 👋

Thanks for reaching out! If you have email credentials saved in an Email item then those won't be suggested or filled by 1Password. Instead, you'll need to save your email account credentials in a Login item:

  1. Open the 1Password desktop app.
  2. Click + New Item.
  3. Click Login.
  4. Fill in your email account credentials (especially your username and password).
  5. Make sure to add https://google.com as a website address if you're looking to fill those credentials on Google's website.

Then go back to the Google website and you'll see your account credentials suggested on the site. Let me know if that doesn't work.

Thanks Dave, I'm aware this option exists which is why I put this as a feature request. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I have 10 separate email accounts. Each one is set up as an email account in 1Password. I don't want to go through the manual steps to re-create them as logins when I used to be able to search all of my 1Password 'entries' by keyword and get the right one.

Hi, I was searching the community regarding this topic.  Please register this as my vote to make the "Email" category as searchable with the autofill.  I have about 10 email addresses, and made Email category items for all of them.  When I went to log in, I had to pull 1P up, cut and paste the password in.  That prompted me to make a new login entry (which I did).  Now I have a duplicate "Email" entry for each email address, and a "Login" entry.  The passwords are out of sync.  I'm deleting the "Email" entry for now, and hoping this can eventually either link the email & login, or make the email category a searchable place.
