Secret Key in the safe by default - safely?

Hello :)
when I got 1Password a few months ago and have been using it happily for some time now, a new question came to my mind:

By default, the account data to login to my.1password.eu are stored in the vault. This includes the secret key and the master password.

With the Master Password you can still understand it roughly. But why is the Secret Key stored there and what is the purpose and benefit of having the Secret Key there?
And does this not represent a security risk?
After all, Secret Key (and especially in connection with the Master Password) can do a lot of bad things.
So should you really keep the Secret Key only (!) in paper form?

Hi Former Member:Great question! Your Secret Key protects your data on our servers, not on your device. The only way to view your Secret Key in your 1Password account is to have both your password and Secret Key. For more details on how the Secret Key works, see here: About your Secret KeyJack
