Setup Passkey to Open 1Password

Thank you for the question! We're currently testing passkey unlock for 1Password in a public beta:

• Unlock 1Password With a Passkey: Now in Beta
• Unlock 1Password with a passkey (beta)

The beta requires that you create a new 1Password account in order to use passkey unlock. The team is hoping to bring passkey unlock to existing 1Password accounts in the future. 🙂

Maybe I am missing something about this 2nd account business, but opening one sounds problematic to me since I already pay for one account and do not want to buy a second account.

I'm sorry for the confusion. Passkey unlock for 1Password is currently being tested in beta and requires the creation of a new individual account. Once our team finishes working on the feature and it is officially released, passkey unlock will be available for existing accounts as well.

You can certainly wait until the feature is officially released and available for your existing account, participating in the current beta is optional.

@1P_Dave once unlock with Passkeys is rolled out to existing accounts, will we have the option to remove our password from our account and rely solely on the passkey?
