"Start here" prompts - long time user and cannot see a way to make them go away

We've been using 1Password since version 3. Latest update is showing "Start here" prompts in both the app and browser extensions.

I can make Step 1 (tutorial) go away by clicking on it and then closing the resulting web page, but step 2 (import) I cannot seem to get around.

As long time users we have no passwords to import, but it's saying at least five passwords need to be imported to complete the task.

I know some might say just ignore it, but sadly I'm not built like that. It's a very prominent prompt and I need it to vanish.

Maybe I've missed something obvious - hoping someone knows how to fix this. Thanks for reading.

App:

Safari browser extension:

1Password Version: 8.10.52
Extension Version: 8.10.52.25
OS Version: macOS 15.1.1
Browser: Safari

Thanks again for reporting the issue, the team hopes to include changes in the stable release soon. 🙂

Just another long-time user chiming in to say that the "Start here" stuff is very persistent. I just updated macOS and the browser extension and it's still there. There's seemingly no way to click the radio buttons to indicate completion of a step and the tutorial hangs up (I'd thought to just run through it really quickly to make it go away).

It would be nice to be able to dismiss the "Start here" message.

I appreciate the feedback, @celos. 🙂

The team aims to improve this behaviour in future in a stable release. We have recently resolved an issue where the step to add the browser extension would sometimes not be marked as complete.

I have updated to 8.10.56.28 and despite the release notes saying, “Guided Setup is now only shown for accounts that have been active for under two years.” I'm still seeing the "3 Steps Left" annoyance (on the Safari browser extension)... I've been with 1Password Families since its initial release

@rlh – Sorry about this! Are you a full family member on that 1Password Families account, or are you a Guest?

I'm the owner/admin or whatever for our Family account. My spouse is also sees this problem.

Oh, to clarify, we are seeing this on the Safari extension only. 8.10.56 made the messages go away on the main 1Password Mac window. Maybe I'm in the wrong discussion group...

Same here. But I need to add that “adding the extension to Safari” is not an option. I am a software developer and I need Safari with absolutely no extensions to pass some QA stuff.

Also, I'm a long-time user here, tried to finish the beginners tutorial just to get rid of that “Start here” prompt but it is still unchecked.

+1 (several times over) here. I've been seeing the behavior described in this thread for a while across multiple browsers (Safari, Brave, Arc). Unfortunately, I can't pinpoint which version of the browser extension started exhibiting this benign (but visually obnoxious) behavior 😊
