Suggestion whne creating a 1Password Emergency Kit file

Being Adobe and others require a purchased version of a PDF editor to edit file security.    Consider adding a option to create a Password for the  PDF File on your site.   Adobe offers a free tool to password  set the file but it uploads the unprotected file.   Not a safe thing to do with this file to trust them…. Truly not a safe this to have the 1Password Emergency Kit file on my PC or server without a file  being secure.  Adds an extra layer of protection.  thanks

Hello @TuxsonMike! 👋

Thank you for the suggestion! We don’t want to add any friction to accessing your Emergency Kit when you need it and folks may forget a password that they set for their Emergency Kit back when they created their 1Password account and haven’t used since. We don’t recommend reusing your account password for anything but your 1Password account. We have a guide on how to securely store your Emergency Kit on our website:

That being said, I’ve shared your feedback with our product team for their consideration!

@TuxsonMike, personally, I store a printed copy of the Emergency Kit in a bank deposit box, and store the PDF in an encrypted virtual disk.  Beyond Adobe Acrobat, there are other tools to consider that can encrypt and store individual files (e.g., WinZip).
