Please add support for the https://browser.kagi.com. It needs explicit signature verification from 1Password to work. Otherwise, it should work out of the box.

My body is ready.

Or is it? I'll find out when @1P_MattG hits me with the good news ❤️

It's great to see your excitement for Orion Support, thank you for your patience! 🙂

Quick questions from a customer that's super excited to see Orion getting support.

If Orion is so hard to implement support for because of the security risk, why was Ark support given right away?
And if Orion's problem is a webkit browser having chrome extensions, why was SigmaOS supported right away too?

Thanks @1P_MattG For the update. Happy to hear that more news is coming about the estimated arrival of 3rd party browser support.

@CostcoFanboy That's a question many have asked and sadly no one from 1P has been transparant about why.

April 6, 2023

I recently have started using Orion as my daily driver and I can't wait to see a proper 1Password support for it!

@argasek Indeed, many of us are counting the days.

@janpeeters It's a shame. Looking at the Discord, it seems like the lead dev of the Orion project seems to be not on very good terms with 1P. Maybe it's personal?

@CostcoFanboy I don't know the specific Discord messages and dev you're referring too. But if you're talking about Vladimir Prelovac then I can imagine that it's annoyance. Annoyance about the fact that it takes so long and that there is no transparency as to the why other browser like Arc got supported quickly.

I introduced Vlad to Steve Won, the (recently new) CPO of 1P (after I wrote to Dave Tear about the situation, Steve contacted me back and I had a videocall with him) to have a talk about the current situation. They were in contact but don't know the details if it was live or only via email. I've seen no signs of something personal to be honest so let's not assume.

@1P_MattG Maybe you or someone else from 1P can shed a light on why Arc got support so fast, so that this question can be put to rest. You've read this thread and are aware that many people would like to know.

Anyway. I'm happy that support for all party browsers is coming.

@janpeeters don’t forget about SigmaOS, which also got support early on with a small user base and runs on WebKit, just like Orion—which also dispels any explanation about the technical stack being the issue here.

super disappointed in the lack of transparency here. the obvious answer is that these browsers are VC-backed, where Orion is user-backed…

hopefully we’ll also get a clearer timeline soon. it feels like we’re just getting hit with “more info soon” again and again.

@sankool, yes indeed that's interesting that WebKit based SigmaOS was supported early.
@1P_MattG can you shine a light on this? Was there external funding involved from these browsers to get 1P working? Would be great if the info gap about this could be filled. Thanks.

@janpeeters Yes, that Vlad.

I don't think anyone from 1Password will answer you truthfully in regards to the SigmaOS/Ark early support debacle.

I will most likely be switching to BitWarden if 1Password is not done implementing Orion support by the end of my upcoming billing date. It supports Orion and at a 1/3rd of the price.
