Question

Thinkware is split into 2.

I’ve had this odd problem with Thinkware. It appears to be split into two. Account.Thinkware.com and Support.Thinkware.com

They don’t appear to work. For example, for Thinkware Support with 72 Characters Max and Thinkware Account with 16 Characters Max.

Thinkware Support is run by Zendesk. I kept overriding the old Passwords possibly with each Password change between Account and Support. Per se it’s not a 1Password issue but it’s frustrating.

How did I post the same two Questions? This new Forum software needs to get used to but the old Vanilla Software is gone.

Hi @wkleem, thanks for posting! I’ve gone ahead and removed your duplicate post to ensure everything stays in one place.

Regarding your issue with Thinkware, could you try the steps below for each account, then test again and see if you’re still having trouble with passwords being overridden by the other account:

  1. Open and unlock 1Password.
  2. Locate one of your Thinkware logins, and select Edit.
  3. Click or tap the Autofill behaviour settings button on the right side of the URL field.
  4. Set it to “Only fill on this exact host”.
  5. Save the item.
  6. Repeat these steps for the other Thinkware item.

Let me know how this goes!

I’ll try it later. Meanwhile here are the two differing Password recipes. I was trying to manage the same Account and Support in Thinkware. It should be possible to use one password.

Thinkware Account

  • Regular password changes are essential to secure your personal information.
  • Your password should be between 8-16 characters and contain uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
  • Do not use passwords that are easy for others to guess.

Thinkware Support

Password must contain the following

  • Must be at least 5 characters

  • Must be fewer than 72 characters

  • Must be different than your email address

Hi @wkleem, thanks for the additional information! I may have initially misunderstood the situation here.

To confirm, you're looking to use the same password across both parts of Thinkware so you can have just the one login item for both?

Since it sounds like these are two separate systems, even if they're both part of Thinkware, we'd generally recommend saving a separate login item for each with a unique password, and enabling "Only fill on this exact host" on each item, as suggested in my previous reply. That should prevent them from interfering with each other and keep each one distinct.

If you'd prefer to use one item with the same password across both, there is some overlap in the requirements. You'd need one between 8-16 characters with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and a special character, that isn't the same as your email address, to satisfy both sets of requirements. Then make sure the URLs for both account.thinkware.com and support.thinkware.com are saved in the item. Just bear in mind that reusing passwords isn't something we'd advise doing.

There had been a proliferation of emails over the years. At last count I may have 900 Logins (Different emails) from 20 years ago to the present.

Some time ago, the 1Password Trash became Archive so I probably have an unemptied Trash.

Yes. I tried having two Passwords at first then I tried having 1 password. Something appears to reset when I choose Forget your password.  I don’t really know what’s happening

Thinkware Account I believe was dormant or frozen before I decided to type in my old Password which I found it didn’t work. That was when I contacted Thinkware support. And then contacted this Community.

Hi @wkleem, thanks for your patience here. As the situation sounds quite confusing and we may need to request some screenshots or recordings to better clarify what’s happening, I’d like to have you email in to our support team at support@1password.com. This will allow our team to help get things sorted out without risking sharing any of your personal information on a public forum.

In your email, please include a link to this thread, and your forum username. You’ll receive a reply with a Support ID number. Post that number here. Thanks!
