Touch ID greyed out

Hi. Recent migration to new Mac; latest versions of Sequoia and 1Password. Touch ID option greyed out in 1Password prefs, with irrelevant "Learn more about Touch ID and Apple Watch security" link underneath.

I've rebooted, and toggled off and on every Touch ID option in macOS prefs. No change.

Judging by the forum entries, this seems to be a recurring (and as yet unaddressed) bug.

Grateful for any pointers ...

Hello @logicelf! 👋

I'm sorry that you're unable to turn on Touch ID after migrating to a new Mac. If you've used Time Machine or Apple's Migration Assistant to migrate to your new Mac then the 1Password app may sometimes need to be reset in order for Touch ID unlock to work on the new Mac. Follow these steps:

🚨 Before proceeding, make sure that you have a copy of your Emergency Kit, that you know your account password, and that you're signed into 1Password on another device.

  1. Reset the 1Password app: How to reset the 1Password app on a specific device
  2. Add your 1Password account back to the 1Password app: How to add your 1Password account to the apps
  3. Follow the prompts to setup 1Password, turn on Touch ID, and configure any settings that you had configured before.

Let me know if you didn't use Time Machine or Migration Assistant or if these steps don't work for you.

Thanks Dave - I managed to reach out to support directly after a few days with no reply here, and they also suggested this - which worked. A KB article for this apparently semi-regular issue would be useful.

@logicelf

I'm happy that the team was able to help. I'll pass along your suggestion for a dedicated support article to the team internally. 🙂
