Touch ID not working

I've got this problem too. There was another thread related to this but it was closed without any confirmation of a known problem or a resolution. Very frustrating.

I may have found the issue... I'm changing me post now before checking... updating 1Password doesn't update the extension in Safari. Updates to 1Password would do well to advise users to do so.

I'm sorry that Touch ID isn't working on your Mac. Are you still able to unlock the Mac itself using Touch ID? If you can then please try these steps:

1. Make sure that you're using the latest versions of both the desktop app and 1Password in the browser:

3. How to keep 1Password up to date in your browser
4. Completely turn off your Mac and then turn it on to restart it. (Don't skip this step.)
5. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
6. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Touch ID & Password.
7. Turn off all of the features, then turn all of them back on again.
8. Go back to 1Password and choose 1Password > Settings from the menu bar.
9. Click the Security icon, then turn on "Touch ID".
10. Lock 1Password by choosing 1Password > Lock from the menu bar.
11. Now try unlocking 1Password using Touch ID.

If you still run into issues after trying these steps then can you tell me if you see an error message? I look forward to hearing from you.

I think I’ve got it working. Again, updating 1Password doesn't update the extension in Safari. I have since updated the extension and it seems to have solved the issue.

When updating 1Password it would be helpful to be told an extension also needs updating. As an example Audio Hijack is good at doing that.

1Password for Safari is a separate app from the 1Password desktop app and will update separately. However, you can set the Mac App Store to automatically update 1Password for Safari:

You can also give the Mac App Store the ability to send you notifications when an update is available: Change Notifications settings on Mac - Apple Support (CA)
