Turn off password generator?

Question

Is there any way to turn off the password generator? Every time I edit a record, it changes the password to something that is incorrect.  I have verified this by setting the password length to 1.  So for example, if my saved password is "fakepassword" it will change the password to "x".

Editing is a very frequent occurrence because it seems to save a random password instead of the one you enter on a website.
