Universal Autofill not working on Mac apps after update to Version 8.12.21

Universal Autofill has stopped working on my Mac Studio. When I enter ⌘+\, Quick Access comes up, but then when I select an entry it doesn't actually fill. It stopped working after upgrading to ver 8.12.21 this morning. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hello folks,

Our development team has identified an issue where 1Password's Universal Autofill feature would fail to fill login credentials in certain macOS apps. Our team has identified the cause and has released a fix in the latest version of 1Password for Mac, please follow the step in our guide to update 1Password to the latest version (8.12.21-4):

If you're still unable to fill your login credentials after updating, please create a new post and the team and I will be happy to help further.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we worked to resolve this issue.

Hello @timbo2! 👋

I'm sorry that Universal Autofill isn't working to fill your login credentials on your Mac. I've reproduced the same issue on my end and I've filed a bug report with our development team.

At the moment, the best workaround is to manually copy and paste credentials into apps. For Chromium-based browsers, you can install 1Password in the browser, which takes over filling functionality for Universal Autofill and restores filling with Universal Autofill in those browsers.

I'm sorry for the disruption caused and I'll update this thread as soon as we have a fix ready for release.

Thanks Dave. Please note I cannot open Mac applications with Universal Autofill as well.

Just chiming in to say that I'm experiencing this issue as well.

Quite a bug !!!!

I filed a problème report, and never got that type of answer, so thanks Dave

I installed beta, so I hope the problem will be solved quicker on the beta channel

Same here: Cmnd+\ does not work with 8.12.21 on 26.5 with SEE Finance 3. Not even Quick Access

Have tried restarting, taking out and re-adding etc. Nothing.

Good luck with a fix!

Hi folks,

having the same issue I'm also interested to know when this will be fixed.
I tried latest beta 8.12.22-15 with no luck.

So for the moment I went back to 1Password for Mac 8.12.12 (81212044) from my Time Machine Backup and immediately Autofill went back to work.

Of course I stopped automatic updates until this is fixed.

Best,
Julian

@julian

I went back to 1Password for Mac 8.12.12 (81212044)

thanks for the tip, just oping it does not update itself ( even If I deselect automatic updates)

ANd certainly hope that Agile makes this a hight priority as for a Password Manager not to fill in passwords is very very bad

As this answer from @1P_Dave is now marked as a "solution" I have to respectfully emphasize, that this is not a solution.
It is a workaround that does not solve the issue.

Paying customers like me expect this to work again soon so I can update from 8.12.12 again.

Best,
Julian

Our developers are actively working on getting a fix released and I'm sorry for the continued disruption. Marking a post as a solution to a thread doesn't mean that the issue/request itself is solved or closed. It's a way to highlight and pin the most up-to-date answer for anyone who stumbles onto the thread in the future so that they don't have to read through the entire thread in order to find the latest update.

@1P_Dave thanks for the clarification, means a lot :)

It is astonishing that 1Password released a version of the product containing this error.  I encourage 1Password to use this situation as a learning opportunity, by conducting a thorough internal review of how the quality assurance processes failed and how they may be improved to ensure that customers' experiences with the product are free of defects.

Likewise - also experiencing the same auto-fill issues. I agree with Gilles suggestion that an update (downdate?) to the previous working version should occur until a fix has been made.  I appreciate the work-around suggestions and came to the copy/paste conclusions independently before contacting support who informed that this wasn't a client side issue.  I don't use any browser extensions and heavily lean on auto-fill.  Anyway, if the fix is not imminent a prior version fix would be greatly appreciated.

1Password for Mac 8.12.24 81224017

available in nightly build

Thanks for the heads-up Gilles.  I confirm the same after installing the update.

As mentioned previously, breaking auto-fill on MacOS is a big deal. Rather than leaving it up to me to diagnose and then search for community issues, and then follow multiple closed/duplicate issues to this parent issue, please consider updating https://status.1password.com/ with an acknowledgement. I understand this is a holiday weekend in the US and cutting an emergency release requires time, but acknowledging the issue publicly goes a long way towards being respectful of your paying customers.

@bcreane

I’m sorry for the disruption caused. Updates to our status page are typically reserved for service-level incidents such as outages, but we’ll review how we can better communicate ongoing issues like this in the future. Thank you for your patience.
